So, it's day 1 of AU, we've had the welcome session and two classes;
Welcome session was...loud? Very American-centric, so felt a bit jaded about that. Supposed to be an international conference. Anyway.
The big thing was climate change and a whole 'we are the future' motivational speech. They had a huge auditorium filled with all 10000 attendees and screens all the way around the back of the room (which they used quite a bit for some flybys and stuff). The manufacturing bit at the beginning was excellent.
First session was Inventor + Vault integration, quite a small class and would have been excellent - if the idiots in the audience stopped asking questions and making the speaker digress so much. Really needed to be longer, because he would have been good to talk to about the Libraries issues with Vault.
Second session was just now; extreme 2D in Inventor, which was all about API (customising Inventor through programming). Was really interesting, gave us both tons of ideas; but the room was so hot. It was difficult to stay on focus. At least 20 people in the room fell asleep (it was a much bigger class, too).
Next class is Basics of Autodesk Vault. Hopefully this next session will get to explain more about it (that we missed out on this morning).
Have been talking to lots of people from all over; Canada and America mainly but a couple from other places. They all seem to have just as much fun with Vault as we do, so we can rest assured it's a worldwide problem area...if that offers any reassurance. Its interesting hearing about their experiences and problems. The fundamental issue people are expressing to me is that because they can't get it working, they believe it's incomplete. I'm being good and just listening...
Best be off. The Vault class starts in 25 mins, better get a seat!

Yes we are avidly reading all you have to say. It is so interesting and well written that it is like a serial. Can't wait for the next installment!
I should say, I am the one reading and Nigel is the one listening as I read it out to him.
Nigel asks can you see if there are any tricks on speeding up file transfer. Our Vault to PC seems very slow.
How is the weather? Are you cold and do you have enough clothes with you? Have you worn the new shoes yet Paul and are they as comfortable as they look. Do they supply lunch or do you have to buy it? What about meals at night, have you found any salads yet?
Looking forward to reading more.
